The crack of the bat, hearing an umpire holler “STRIKE”, the feel of the sun on your face, the crowd cheering a great play… all sounds of the ball park most of us look forward to every summer. With COVID-19, the chance that we wouldn’t get to experience that at Fitzgerald Stadium this summer hovered over us like a black cloud for a few months.
Last weekend, Post 22 finally got to officially open it’s 2020 baseball season.
Some players felt relief that their last year as a Hardhat wasn’t taken away, others didn’t have to wait another year to put on a Hardhat or a Post 22 Uniform and feel the excitement of sprinting onto the field for the first time.
As a fan, there’s nothing like sitting at the ball park, watching every pitch, every catch, every swing and talking baseball with your family and friends to let us know that we can get back to normal. Our normal may look a little different this year, but we will continue to take the field and give everyone a little distraction to enjoy this amazing game.
